  Do you make your own cheese, yogurt, butter, ice cream or have you ever wanted too? If so, you know the importance of using real milk, not pasteurized, REAL milk. Tide Creek Farms sells real milk in 1/2 gallon jugs that will make great from scratch dairy products. They also sell a wide variety of products that your family can benefit from. I visited them yesterday and picked up a gallon of real milk to make fresh mozzarella and ricotta cheeses for my lasagna next Friday (from scratch matzo and ricotta, basil from a local farm, homemade pasta with duck eggs, from scratch gravy from tomatoes locally purchased, beef from last year cow). The milk has so much cream in it that I’m going to pull that off, make butter with it and use that fresh butter on the homemade focaccia bread ( to go with the lasagna). I’m already planning on buying another gallon to make my own ice cream (food allergy prevents me from buying ice cream) to have as dessert for upcoming meals. I went up Tide Creek to the farm, pulled in, and farmer April Beardsley met me at my vehicle. Tell ya what, personable is what April is, no other way to explain that. We chatted for a good thirty minutes (I wasn’t sure what the farm protocol was, so I didn’t leave my vehicle during the time I was there) about sustainable food, the farm she and her husband run, the quality of their products, and other things that people can benefit from using a local farmer. I’m glad I was able to find a local farmer that can provide me the right ingredients to make real food. Before, I was traveling to a farm in Hillsboro, spending the same amount of money for the same product. Now, I’m saving money by using Tide Creek Farms. Sláinte!
