I teach older children, teens, and adults of all skill levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced. I have been teaching piano for 29 years, and violin for 22 1/2 of those years. Lessons are traditional, meaning that I teach students to read music, and my specialty is classical music, although I can definitely play and teach other styles as well. I teach ages 8 to adult.  Most of my students have lessons every OTHER week, (usually 2 lessons per month.)  For 8- and 9-year-old students, parental involvement and encouragement is especially important for lessons every other week to be effective.  I also OCCASIONALLY have a weekly opening.  For students who are 10 or older, lessons every week OR every other week work well, as long as they practice between lessons.  I recommend a minimum of 3 days per week of at-home practice, (6 days between lessons that are every other week.)  Regular attendance is also necessary! I am understanding of cancellations once in a while due to illness, medical appointments, inclement weather, and other important reasons. However, I can ‘t keep a time-slot available for anyone if they have excessive cancellations (for reasons other than illness or other emergencies), and/or if they are not practicing regularly. I am looking for highly interested students only.

My rates as of 9/1/24: $25.00 per 30-minute lesson, $18.00 per 20-minute lesson, or $34.00 per 40-minute lesson.  Most students have 30-minute lessons. However, I will recommend longer or shorter lessons as needed.  For example, for 8- and 9-year-olds, some students do well with 20-minute lessons, while others do well with 30-minute lessons.  Please note that I tend to cover a lot in each lesson.  I accept cash or personal checks only, and most students pay for one lesson at a time. Books are an additional cost that is usually kept to a minimum.

As of March 2025, I have a brand new Kawai acoustic upright piano, and my students are doing amazingly playing on this beautiful instrument.

I teach on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. All new students will be scheduled between 1:30 and 5:00 pm, so that I can finish by around 5:30 each day. Please contact me for more details.
