I teach older children, teens, and adults of all skill levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced. I have been teaching piano for 26 years, and violin for 20 of those years. Lessons are traditional, meaning that I teach students to read music, and my specialty is classical music, although I can definitely play and teach other styles as well. I would highly recommend that the student be 9 or older. I will occasionally take a very interested and focused 8-year-old, on a trial basis to start with. Lessons are every other week only. If you are looking for weekly lessons, please consider another teacher, as I won’t have availability for that.
I have been teaching piano for 27 years, and violin for 20 of those years. My rates: $24.00 per 30-minute lesson, $21.00 per 25-minute lesson, or $18.00 per 20-minute lesson. Most students have 30-minute lessons. Occasionally, I find that a student needs longer lessons for their learning needs and/or their skill level at the following rates: $33.00 per 40-minute lesson, $42.00 per 50-minute lesson, or $48.00 per 60-minute lesson. (Extended lessons are subject to my scheduling hours/availability…please contact me for more details.) I accept cash or personal checks only, and most students pay for one lesson at a time. Books are an additional cost that is usually kept to a minimum. Violin is a difficult instrument. I would highly recommend renting one if you or your child is a beginning student. Most of my students study piano, and over the years I’ve found that piano is easier than violin for many people. Piano lessons are given on a Yamaha Clavinova digital piano. My students do well playing this nice instrument.
I teach on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Most lessons are at 3:45, 4:35, or 6:30 pm. The afternoon hours do vary depending on the day…some lessons are at 4:00, 4:40, or 4:45 pm. I also offer limited daytime lessons earlier in the afternoon. Please contact me for my current availability.
