Columbia County, Oregon- The 4th Annual Catch the Holiday Spirit Campaign ran Nov 16th – Dec 31st 2019 with over 80 participating businesses across Columbia County. This campaign connects Columbia County businesses during the holiday shopping season.
Wauna Credit Union has sponsored this grass roots marketing campaign for the past 4 years to encourage shopping locally during the 6 week period. Every year they provide 15 prizes, $50 gift cards (3) for each city and (1) $150.00 countywide prize which is over $900.00 worth of prizes.
This year 483 “Spirit Cards” were collected from five cities in Columbia County. Each card is valued at $200.00 spent at local businesses. The 2019 Catch the Holiday Spirit Campaign tracked $96,600 in local spending.
Director, Natasha Parvey, shared she was happy with the results of the campaign. “The goal was to track $100,000 this year as we hit $91,000 in 2018. We were a little under our goal but I’m happy with the numbers. According to AMIBA (American Independent Business Alliance), for every $1.00 locally spent that money is re-spent 6 X’s. Now that makes me happy.”
